Yesterday I went to my uncles house for some family christmas time. My cousin, like myself, just bought a new car. The difference was he paid a lot more and got a very very slightly used Caddy ATS4. After a little eating and chatting we decided to take it for a spin. All in all it was a very nice ride.

The car rolls smooth has a comfy and attractive interior with neat little gimmicks to make you happy for spending 38k on a used car. Really I was quite surprised by the overall size. It was quite small in comparison to what I think all Caddy's are. (land barges). The handling was what i expected on suburban roads and highways. The pickup was alot of fun as its not often you see someone goose one of these. My cousin who is only 26 and a year older than me drives it in automatic but he has the paddles on the wheel so of course i put those into play. They are pretty fun, but not very responsive. I would say a person that is well established at rowin their own would be able to make the gear changes almost as quickly. When I got out of the car I had a warm fuzzy about paddle shifter, they were actually pretty fun, I had only used them once before briefly but I started to ask myself if I would get them on my own car ever. My desire for them grew as I drove my family home in my parents Auto Ponti Torrent. Then this morning, I jumped into my ST and slid out of my driveway onto some snow covered streets, and as I slammed through my gears I realized that I will probably buy paddle shifters.... when my left foot stops working.

Side Note: Cadillac Wanted me to drive a 2013 ATS4 so bad that they secretly planned the meeting of my early ancestors. After generations of parents and children Cadillac eventually brought together my parents and my cousins parents to create us. Then for 26 years they targeted precise add campaigns at my cousin, specifically to get him behind the wheel of the ATS4. (The car and interior photos are not the actual car I drove just something from google.)

Great write up, loved the disclaimer. I have a love/hate relationship with the ATS. Looks good on paper, but the styling of the ext/int seems dated. The fake chromey wheels on the lower trim level makes me want to barf. And who the hell pays $38k on a used Cadillac!? Overall I think I'd prefer your ST over it, much more value.

I would have thought it was indicating the 4 banger for some reason. I didn't know they came in AWD. But an ATS4 with the 3.6 actually sounds like a really really fun car, even with the autotragic.

That would be the engine I would want in the ATS, but in 2WD form (I'm in Texas, and there is virtually no need for an AWD variant).

I'm still holding onto the hope that I could nab a CTS-Vsport sometime this next year.

Yeah the V6 sounds AMAZING in this Car. I loved the note. and the cabin noise buffering didnt block it out too much but didnt let it dominate the sound in the car either, cadillac really put thought into that I think.

In my cousins defense the car has 5k miles on it, so it was almost brand new. The dealer was asking 45 because of the trim on it. He talked them down pretty well and still managed 10k on a 03 civic lx trade in with lots of miles. The interior to me was anything but dated. It was a nice mix, and the carbon fiber rather than the wood grain was very nice. The red leather was straight up sex (I called it Hookers Blood Red) and the dash has this awesome hidden compartment for storing your coke/money.

The interior is probably much nicer in person than in pictures. I probably would change my mind once I was in the driver's seat. However I did see the ATS at the car show and thought they could've went a little edgier with the exterior styling.

The wheels on the ATS in the picture are the good ones, these are the ugly vomit inducing ones:

Just looking at the picture makes me want to punch someone at Cadillac in the face.

I totally agree, the ones in my pic my cousin has, these "chrome" wheels are nasty, are they annodyzed aluminum? they look foggy like that.

I don't know what they are but they look like the "chrome" can be peeled off if necessary. I've seen it in person and it's just as awful as you'd expect. The new CTS has these wheels too!

Kinja'd!!!

Looks like something you'd see on a Hyundai. God that's ugly.
